West Jeff Schools: Salary Adjustments, Donations and Staff News

The action was swift and the October meeting was short for the local Jefferson School Board compared to previous months with a packed audience and a plethora of speakers.

From the call to order by board chair Melissa Adams to the final hammer blow, the October 11 meeting in the high school / college auditoria lasted less than 25 minutes.

Approval on the agenda was a 2.75% salary adjustment, retroactive to July 1, for three central office staff

The salary base increase is similar to that agreed by the teachers’ union and affects two employees from the treasurer’s office and one from the superintendent’s office.

“It’s reasonable to stay on the line with everyone,” said Treasurer Mark Ingles.

In another action, the board approved nine donations ranging from $ 40 from Chantal Weldon to Norwood Elementary for wardrobe supplies to $ 3,066 for the Athletic Boosters sports department.

Donations also included: $ 599 to the district from Athletic Boosters to purchase a new refrigerator for the in-home concession stand; $ 1,000 to the Dan Howard / Buckeye BBQ High School Student Council; $ 150 to Matt and Melissa Adams’ high school mock trial team; $ 500 to the Cathleen Campbell and Battelle High School Orchestra Program; three sensory bags at Autism Society’s Norwood Elementary; and $ 100 at the Renaissance club at Smoothie King high school.

Board members also accepted Sherry Chamberlain’s resignation as a college science teacher, employed Amanda Fout for a one-year contract as a permanent substitute teacher at Norwood, and approved a list of ‘extracurricular basketball and wrestling coaches for boys and girls. contracts for the 2021-22 school year.
