MONROE, THE– The University of Louisiana Monroe School of Visual and Performing Arts and Recruiting Office are hosting their annual VAPA Day on Wednesday, October 13. This event is for high school students interested in art, dance, music and theater.

“After hosting an online VAPA Day in 2020, we are excited to return to an event on campus,” said James Boldin, DMA, music professor and associate director of the School of Visual and Performing Arts. “VAPA Day will feature a variety of activities designed to introduce prospective students to the world of visual and performing arts at the college level.”

Calendar:

  • 8:30 am-9am, Auditorium Brown: Registration and registration with the performances of ULM student groups

  • 9 am-9.50am, Auditorium Brown: Welcome and presentation of teachers

  • 10 am-10.50am: Masterclasses and other activities offered by the ULM faculty and art fair

  • 11 am-11.50am, locations vary: Students have the opportunity to choose from several activities.

    • Percussion Ensemble— Watch the percussion ensemble rehearse in the Orchestra Hall.

    • Art Fair— Meet exceptional faculty, students and alumni as they share a variety of activities, demonstrations and information.

    • Dance With Us— Teachers and students show an overview of the dance annex dance department. Please bring dance attire.

    • Sing with us— Listen to the ULM choir as they practice together. Find out what it is like to be a member.

    • Take action with us— The theater department will provide opportunities for improvisation and acting. Wearing comfortable clothing is recommended.

  • 12: 00-12: 50 p.m., locations vary: Students can participate in the above activities, with the exception of Act with Us.

  • 13h-13h50: Lunch will be provided. Afterwards, campus tours and auditions will be offered.
