After 75 hours of research, including reading hundreds of reviews of 55 top-selling models, interviews the sex researcher Debra Herbenick and five other experts, drawing on the opinions of enthusiasts and analyzing data from seven testers who tried eight different models, as well as six months of follow-up testing, we concluded that wireless Rechargeable magic wand is the best vibrator for most people.

Should you buy a clitoral vibrator?

Sex toys can be a boon for people who are unable to easily reach orgasm from manual masturbation, oral sex, or penetrative sex alone. But buying sex toys can be a daunting experience. High quality sex toys are often expensive and non-returnable, there are hundreds of models to choose from and the criteria for what makes a good sex toy can be very subjective. We’ve been looking for toys that will suit most people, including beginners.

How we chose and tested

We identified several characteristics of the vibrator that were most important to our experts, testers, and a general sample of sex toy owners:

  • Stimulation powerful enough to induce an orgasm
  • Multiple or variable speeds
  • High quality, easy to clean, non-porous body safe material like silicone or ABS plastic
  • Long battery life
  • User-friendliness and intuitive functions

If a toy was rechargeable, versatile, durable, small (most of our testers, but not all, preferred smaller toys), affordable, waterproof, easy to clean, or backed by a strong warranty, we considered these attributes to be bonuses. . Many users also wanted an aesthetic toy with multiple color options.

We looked at 55 different models and tested eight of them. Our test panel consisted of seven people with varying vaginas, ages and sexual orientations. We asked our testers to use each toy at least once, preferably twice or more, and to incorporate these toys into pair play when possible.

In addition, we independently tested the interactions with the silicone lubricant (more information on this topic in our complete guide), rated battery life by turning devices on and off for 20 minutes until they died, rated overheating by leaving them running for long periods of time, and tested the operation of waterproof vibrators.

Our choice: Rechargeable magic wand

We recommend the Rechargeable magic wand, an improved version of the ultra-powerful Original magic wand. The Rechargeable Wireless is well worth the extra investment, as it offers twice the stimulation levels of the stock model, as well as an assortment of vibration models, an easy-to-clean silicone head, and a rechargeable battery that works with or without the power cord.

Virtually all of our testers reported that the Magic Wand was the only toy in our test group that could consistently get them to an intense climax quickly, intuitively, efficiently, and predictably. It offers four strength settings and converts into an insertable vibrating G / P-spot stimulator or penile masturbation sleeve via a attachment.

A powerful wired option: Doxy Massager

The Doxy Massager is similar to the magic wand in terms of power, function and price, but it offers several distinct advantages: it looks more elegant and is available in four colors, as opposed to the clinical white of the magic wand. It also offers eight vibration speeds, twice as high as our top pick.

However, unlike the Rechargeable Magic Wand, the Doxy still needs to be plugged into the wall to work. Additionally, the softer texture of the head tends to reduce the perceived intensity of vibrations, even though the Doxy Massager has a higher top speed.

A Battery Operated Vibrator for Under $ 30: Tokidoki x Lovehoney Sugar Rush 7 Function Girl Power Vibrator

Our tester originally purchased the Girl Power vibrator, from British sex toy retailer Lovehoney’s collaboration with Italian lifestyle brand Tokidoki, as a cheap and cheerful collector’s item. Such stylish toys tend not to be affordable and generally don’t perform well, but this vibrator is the exception to that rule. Our tester loved the toy’s versatile shape and firm texture, and found it to be exceptionally powerful for a battery-powered model. It offers three speeds and four modes of vibration. The only major downside is that it is not rechargeable, requiring two AA batteries to operate.

Lovehoney is ditching all four versions of the Tokidoki-branded vibrator which is our budget pick. As an alternative, consider the Classic vibrator Fifty Shades of Gray Charlie Tango; it is the same model, but with a different brand.

For suction and vibration: Womanizer W500

Despite its ominous name, the Womanizer W500 is one of the few toys to live up to the hype surrounding their gadget – in this case, a silicone nozzle that attaches to the clitoris, stimulating it with a combination of suction and vibration. Our tester reported that this toy was unlike any other toy she had tried, with a focused, soft, but intense feel in a totally different way from a traditional vibrator, providing a sensation similar to oral sex. The biggest downside to the Womanizer is its price: at over $ 200, it exceeds most people’s budget for a sex toy.

Also awesome: Zumio Classic

Although the Zumio ClassicThe unusual shape of the toy resembles that of a thermometer or oral hygiene device, the narrow shaft and rounded tip of the toy provide more precise sensations than any other vibrator we have tested. This toy is ideal for those who like to focus the stimulation on a particular part of the clitoris or vulva, as the small area of the hard plastic oscillating tip makes the vibrations more concentrated in the areas with which they come in contact. This makes the Zumio excellent for pair or solo play. However, it costs almost as much as our top pick, the Magic Wand, and is largely unable to match its wide and deep internal clitoral stimulation.
