Solvay director appointed CNY school district director



Corey Graves, principal of Solvay Middle School, has been appointed principal of the Stockbridge Valley Central School District in Munnsville, Madison County.

Graves will become superintendent on Aug. 9 after being appointed by the school board on July 13, district officials said.

Graves has been Principal of Solvay High School since August. Prior to that he worked for 14 years as an athletic director / physical education and health teacher in Stockbridge Valley.

His annual salary will be $ 130,000, said Scott Budelman, Madison-Oneida BOCES district superintendent / research consultant.

Susan Vickers has served as Acting Superintendent since March, after Cindy Stocker retired as Superintendent of Stockbridge Valley in February.

Board chairman Doug Reed said in a press release that Graves’ history and familiarity with the district was important to the decision.

“While our two finalists would have done a great job leading our district, the board was excited to bring back someone who has spent so much time here and who already knows the culture of our community. and our school, ”he said.
