New Castle High School locked out over threats against students and schools during prom



New Castle High School was put on lockdown on Friday after police said threats were made to students and schools as the school organized the walk for students attending the prom. Police said they received information about the threats and investigators were able to speak on the phone to the individual who reiterated the threats. Through the investigation, police said officers were able to determine the possible location of the person near New Castle High School. Police said that due to the credible nature of the threats and the person’s proximity to the school, the school was placed on lockdown. Police said officers and the Lawrence County Special Response Team escorted guests and students individually to their vehicles. New Castle Police said they are actively investigating the incident and trying to locate the person responsible for the threats.
