Mountain Grove, Missouri Superintendent Gets Creative With No School Ad

MOUNATIN GROVE, Mo. (KY3) – Dozens of school districts around the Ozarks closed schools Friday in winter weather, but some are going even further to make it official.

The Mountain Grove School District got creative with its “no school” announcement Thursday night. Mountain Grove Superintendent Jim Dickey played the piano to the tune of Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline” to confirm the district would close schools on Friday.

In a video shared by the school district, Dickey performed the intro and chorus of the song with modified lyrics. In the chorus, he specifically refers to “slippery country roads” and “schools will be closed”.

The video informed the school district and caught the attention of hundreds of people. The video has nearly 300 shares as of 3 p.m. Saturday.

It was also not the first time that Dickey used his musical talents to announce the closure of a school. During the cold snap of last February, he performed to the tune of Garth Brooks’ “Friends in Low Places” to announce that the neighborhood would close in winter.

No school in Mountain Grove on Tuesdays. Here is the musical proof!
