Former Sonora Board of Directors Krysta Wolken
Sonora, CA – With the resignation of an administrator from Sonora Union High School, a place has opened up on the school’s board of directors and nominations are being sought from those who wish to fill the seat.
Director Krysta Wolken, who defeated longtime board member and chairman Jeanie Smith in the November 3 election last year, resigned late last month. She was the Zone 1 Trustee which includes the Sonora, Jamestown and Chinese Camp school districts.
The Board of Trustees gives public notice that “all qualified individuals who wish to apply for the vacant position on the Sonora Union High School District Board of Directors may obtain an application by contacting the Sonora High School District Office. Union or by going to the district website at sonorahs. .k12.ca.us.
All applications must be submitted by August 25, no later than 4:00 p.m., to the Sonora Union High School District Office Superintendent’s Office at 100 School Street, Sonora, California.
School officials have provided this list of qualifications for the board seat:
1. Submit a letter of intent
2. Submit proof or resident in the administration area of ââthe Sonora Union Secondary School District 1 (Sonora,
Jamestown and Chinese Camp School Districts)
3. Be a registered voter who is at least 18 years old
It is also noted that the board will appoint a person to the headquarters if there are no candidates, or none of the candidates are qualified. Councilor Wolken’s term was scheduled to end in December 2024. The person who will occupy her seat will serve until the next school board election in November 2022.
