Lockdown lifted after reports of shooting near Coachella college


Reports of a shooting outside a local college led to a short lockdown at Bobby Duke Middle School in Coachella.

Details on possible shots remain limited at this time.

A teacher heard gunshots in the area and called 911. The deputy who responded asked the school to lock down, according to Lissette Santiago, public information officer for the Coachella Unified School District. Valley.

Santiago added that the lock was lifted at 3:11 p.m.

She said the incident happened off campus near Cairo Street at Coachella.

“Students and staff are safe and normal school operations have resumed. LEO continues to search the surrounding area for shell casings,” Santiago wrote.
