CASTRO VALLEY, Calif. — Each year, the Castro Valley Unified School District selects one teacher as the CVUSD Alameda County Teacher of the Year and two teachers as the Masonic Teacher of the Year.
Nancy Galloway, physical education teacher at Jensen Ranch Elementary School, was selected as CVUSD Alameda County Teacher of the Year.
Jessica Labang from Chabot Elementary School and Diane DeYoung from Canyon Middle School were selected as Masonic Teachers of the Year.
Teachers nominated for these awards demonstrate exceptional service to students and their school community and demonstrate exemplary leadership in fostering a positive school climate. Teachers are nominated by their peers and a district committee makes the final selection.

Each year, employees of the Castro Valley Unified School District appoint five employees classified as Ranked Employees of the Year.
The Classified Schools Employee of the Year program, sponsored by the California Department of Education, highlights the contributions of classified school employees who support the education of California public school students. The goals of the program are to identify five employees from exemplary ranked schools throughout California for recognition. The five categories include: infant nutrition; maintenance, operations and facilities; Office and Technical; Para-educator and teaching aid; Support and security services; and Transportation.

The Board of Education will recognize the selected teachers of the year, nominees and classified employees of the year at its board meeting on May 11.
