PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) – A Brimfield High School (BHS) elder was pronounced dead on Tuesday after being found unconscious in his parents’ hot tub on Monday evening.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood on Wednesday identified the eldest as 17-year-old Jacob A. Look.

Her parents immediately began to take life-saving measures until EMS arrived.

Look was taken to OSF Saint Francis Medical in Peoria unresponsive and in critical condition. Look was pronounced dead at 4:07 a.m. Tuesday, despite aggressive resuscitation efforts.

An autopsy revealed that Look’s immediate cause of death was drowning. Harwood said more studies are pending to determine if and what medical event preceded the drowning.

For the moment, no criminal act is suspected.

Look was a basketball player for BHS and wore jersey # 30.

Brimfield High School Superintendent Tony Shinall said: “It is the worst case scenario as an educator to lose one of your own, but knowing that we have such strong children and strong families makes it easier to do so. things.”

Shinall also said social workers from nearby schools came to help students and teachers with the grieving process and also used emotional support animals.

On Tuesday, December 7, during the Grade 8 basketball game, the students held the basketball for the first 30 seconds of the game to honor Look’s jersey number.
