An Asbury Park man will spend nearly 2.5 years (33 months) in jail for being a previously convicted felon in possession of a gun, acting prosecutor Rachael A. Honig said on Tuesday.
Natquan T. Johnson, 26, found himself in trouble again after photos of him with a gun surfaced on social media, which drew the attention of Asbury Park Police and detectives from the Monmouth County District Attorney’s Office in July 2019.
During a consensual search of the residence, they located the firearm, a Smith & Wesson .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun loaded with nine rounds.
Prior to his conviction in Federal Court in Trenton on Tuesday, Johnson pleaded guilty to an indictment accusing him of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
In addition to his prison sentence, Johnson will have less than three years of supervised release.
The government is represented by Assistant United States Attorney Ian D. Brater of the Trenton Criminal Division.
Defense Counsel: Andrea Bergman Esq., Assistant to the Federal Public Defender, Trenton.
